Canada Joins Hague Apostille Convention

Great news! On 12 May 2023, Canada became party to the Hague Apostille Convention, meaning that they will soon issue and accept apostilled documents. The general reaction has been, “Well, it’s about time!” Canada was one of the few developed nations that had not joined the Convention, which made document authentication more complicated than it should have been with our neighbors to the north.

The convention will come into force in Canada on 11 January 2024. Until then, we will work with you and your receiving party to figure out your best option for authenticating your documents for use in Canada. Call us to discuss your authentication needs.
