Hospital Signing Tips: Planning a Medical Notary Appointment

Need to set up a hospital signing? Our new website page guides you through the process for organizing a document signing appointment in a hospital or other health care facility.

Every week we receive calls from attorneys, social workers, and relatives of hospital patients asking for our advice and assistance planning a signing in a hospital or other care facility. This inspired us to create a checklist on our website. Click on the following link to see it: San Francisco hospital notary services.

We walk you through the steps to ensure the signing will be successful:

  • Preparing the necessary documents
  • Determining whether the patient has an acceptable ID
  • Making sure the patient is aware and willing to sign
  • Assessing the patient’s physical ability to sign
  • Scheduling an ombudsman, if needed (rare)
  • Setting up the hospital signing appointment

We can also arrange to bring a witness or witnesses. Medical documents often require a witness or two in addition to or instead of a notary. Some facilities allow their staff to be witnesses. Many do not. We have professional, impartial witnesses available to attend the signing.

In addition to being pragmatic and able to work in tight hospital room settings, our notaries are valued for their patience and compassion when serving medical patients and the elderly.
